Show that you're listening Attend - the person will feel listened to and you'll understand more. When a person says you're not listening to me he's saying that you didn't show me that you're listening to me, you didn't acknowledge what I said or you're not focusing on what I consider to be important. How? Smile appropriately, face the person, lean in, hold good eye contact, ask questions related to what's being said, and use vocalizations and gestures to indicate your interest in the speaker and the topic. Do this and you'll both get more from the interaction. |
