We're Different Not Difficult

I've said people are different not difficult and seminar participants often don't believe me – they're convinced they work with difficult people.

Often I cite cultural, gender, generational, educational, and experiential... differences as the reasons for our difficulties and say that we need to be more understanding and tolerant of each other.

Recently I came across this information.

For Every 100 People in the World There Would Be:

- 57 Asians, 21 Europeans, 14 in North & South Americans, 8 Africans
- 52 females, 48 males
- 70 non-whites
- 70 non-Christians
- 89 heterosexuals
- 59% of the wealth in the hands of only 6 people – all Living in the USA
- 80 living in sub-standard housing
- 70 unable to read
- 50 suffering malnutrition
- 1 near death, 1 near birth
- 1 with a college education
- 1 with a computer

Is there any wonder that we have trouble finding agreement?
